Can i surrender my existing iec code and apply for new one?

Hi,

Is it possible for one to surrender/cancel an existing IEC code with primary address as Regd. Office(Chennai) and apply a new one with Branch Office(Bangalore) as the primary address? I am having to do this since, the Chennai DGFT has taken more than 5 months to make a small amendment and I don't want to wait anymore. Any help is much appreciated.
