Can director of a subsidiary company hold shares of parent private ltd company

The directors of the parent company (pvt. ltd) and that of subsidiary company are same . They are holding shares in the parent company since its incorporation, Now when the Company is opening a subsidiary ,can the directors of subsidiary still hold shares in parent company. Please guide.
