CA Final studies or Job

After articleship. I was into coaching classes and after that I couldn't clear. Hence, I wanted to do job with studies. I did some irrelevant job. I completed articles in 2015. Now from past 6 months I am into another job that too it's not that much relevant, as at the time of joining they told that I will relevant job, hence I joined. I am literally confused should I leave job and study or should I search a suitable job and study. As I don't have experience to show after articleship. Please suggest.

Continue with job... While appearing for single group by taking leave...

If the job is not relevant and after considering your financial stituation and other circumstances, if you feel you can afford to sit at home. I would suggest start preparing for both the groups for May, 2018.

Else, search another job and appear for one group at a time.

Better switch your job where you can do the relevant work. At the same time keep focus on exam preapration for to become a CA in the coming exam.

If do not have job and study only and clear. Then after clearing CA. I can't show anything as experience right. So after becoming CA, why I couldn't clear in these years matters to get a job right?

Hi Ramya

I would provide the following three suggestions based on scenarios.

1)  If you are the bread winner for your family where you cannot compromise on your earnings with an increasing necessity to support the family, then continue with your present employment, if there is not an increasing pressure or stress in your job.  What I mean here is that if your contribution is limited to the 8 hours and nothing more you are expected to go beyond, then do not leave that job, however irrelevant it might be.  Because not every industry or audit firm can offer that.  Use the spare time available on daily basis, get leave on exam holidays and complete your final (either as single group or both groups together based on your plan & preparation).

2) If there is really no necessity for you to take up a job, but you feel like you should keep yourself occupied then join a mid sized audit firm, where you can learn something that will be useful for you in exams as well rather than working on a field that is altogether different from your core areas of interest. But again, try to balance your studies as well, the nature of work might be so fascinating and you might be so much attached to it, however at the end of the day qualification is very important.

3) The third one is the extension of second, having been into an industry even for a short stint, I am sure that by this time you would have felt the difference between the treatment for qualified vis-a-vis the same for semi-qualified.  The harsh reality is that you will carry a brand with you when you enter the industry as qualified otherwise, you will be treated as yet another commodity / workforce as a part of the lot. So if there isn't any real necessity for you to take up a job and if you had really been part of this differential treatment in your own industry, then you must drop your papers straight away with an intent to take up the upcoming exams and clearing it in one go with flying colours.  Then its all going to be a fresh gaurd in the new employment after qualification with a never look back experience.

Hope you consider these factors while taking a decision. Wish you all succession of success

Thank you so much Sathish. And one more query is that, will I get job after clearing CA if I am not able to show any of the work experience before clearing CA.? Even if I give my complete one year i.e.2018 completely and clear CA... I am not able to think where I will stand..
Thank you a lot Swapnil, Sagara Devani and Amitav. Your valuable suggestions will really be very helpful to me.

You will get a job after clearing for sure.

Also, how many attempts you took will only matter during your first job, that also for negotiations. After your first job no one will ask you how many attempts you took.

Hi Ramya

Thanks for considering my suggestions.  Having decided to take up the examination seriously now you should not think about the Ifs and Buts in future.  The concentration should be on your immediate target which is exams. Aim for good marks / rank.

However, I would like to clarify that after qualification, you can very well be assured of a job. There are instances where even after multiple attempts people have got their first job with a good package. The requirements of industry is completely different and once you get into a job its a different ball game altogether.

So approach your studies with all positive thoughts and qualify with flying colors.

All the best once again.

Considering All the suggestions I have decided to go for self study for 1 year from now without any job. Thank you All.
Hi Ramya
Wish you all the best. Target to give exams in May 18. You have almost 6 months time which is a luxury. Consistent 8 hrs study a day from now will help you. Once you start this time frame will increase. Take up institute model exams before main exams.
Thanks and Regards
Sathish
I have not taken coaching for first group subjects. Hence for self study it requires that much time na. So am thought to take 6 months.
Thank you.
For both groups self study. Can we do in 6 months. ?
Second group is what am familiar with.
