I wanted to know if studying DT from ICAI study material will be wise and sufficient? (I am studying the subject for the first time)
If not, please suggest suitable strategy..

ICAI Study material is good but not sufficient for facing the exams. I would suggest use one good reference material along with ICAI SM..
get CA Bhanwaar Borana Compact and complier. ICAI + this are good
I took pen drive class from farooque haque sir. I found it very helpful for the first time to grasp the subject. Or bhanwaar borana compact and compiler is also good.

BB sir modules are good from exam point of view
Yeah ,it is really confusing.So many Authors, so many styles. Some also give charts,summaries, ammendments highlighted. then live classes ,face to face, pen drive classes. Its crazy. Everything is expensive too. We have to find out what suits our learning temperament. That may take time. Self study may or may not work for someone. We may not like someone's voice or teachimg style and realize that later. We may not like book font or presentation style. Whether to take a comprehensive book or a summary or both is another concern. Vast subject . Preparation & Revision takes time.Not trying to confuse anyone. Many students buy several books but are unable to read them even once. Actual Examination paper may still be very tough.Anyways , some more good authors are :

VG sir modules + summary + questions book- is the best option out of three
Basically just go through all the demo lectures of the faculties in options and select which one suits you because what may suit us may not suite you
u wont be able to revise at the end through VG modules. u need vg's summary book+ question book that will be more than enough.
Is vg sir summary is enough for the new student who has never taken any tution and first time doing self study?
Only summary wont be enough. You would need the question book..and you can rely solely on the summary book provided you compare the summary book with module. because there are be certain important chaptrs t
* * there are many imp small chaptrs that are not covered in summary book but which can be asked.
