I registered myself for CA-final in August-2016. I'm eligible to write Final exam in May-2018. I would like to know whether the new syllabus of CA final will be applicable for me. Will the institute give certain number of attempts for existing students to pass CA-final exam with the old Syllabus?

It is although difficult to comment whether new syllabus will be applicable or not. But, certainly, ICAI has promised to give certain number of attempts for old course students before compulsory migration into new course.
The new syllabus has yet to be approved in Parliament and thus even ICAI officials can't be sure of the effective date/attempt when it should be applicable. It is a procedural thing and will happen in its own due course. You may not worry as they will provide ample time for preparation and migration both.
In my opinion, you should start your classes and study the current syllabus sincerely. Standing in Feb 17 already, May '18 is not far, specially considering the CA Final course. You should be best prepared at your end.
