Quick Summary
A business owner with a gold ornament company is seeking advice on stock valuation. Their current book stock is valued at approximately £40 lakh, while the actual weight value is higher due to rising gold prices. They are concerned about how the department will view this discrepancy. The discussion touches upon Accounting Standard 2 (AS 2), which dictates valuing stock at the lower of Net Realisable Value (NRV) or cost.

Closing stock is valued as per AS 2, i.e., NRV (Market price ) or COST which ever is lower .
