Brain teaser!! flower problem!!

the number of flowers taken is a multiple of 7 and the number of flowers kept will be a multiple of 8. i.e the answers are 7,8 or 14,16 or 21,24 or so on....

Let the flowers took to the temple be 'x'

and flowers kept in front of deities be 'y'.

Then,  2(2(2x-y)-y)-y = 0

8x-7y = 0

x/y = 7/8

So it gives multiple answers.....

For 'x' values are multiples of 7 and for 'y' values are multiples of 8....

For those who don't understand or hate 'x' and 'y', here's the typical 'CA' solution.

Let the flowers kept before  deity 3  be 100.

Before dipping in Pond 3, the no. of flowers will be 50. (half of 100)

the flowers kept before deity 2 is also 100. (Since no of flowers are same before each deity).

After dipping in Pond 2, the no. of flowers will be 150.(100 kept before deity and 50 remaining)

that means before dipping in Pond 2, the no. of flowers will be 75. (half of 150).

the flowers kept before deity 1 is also 100. (Since no of flowers are same before each deity).

After dipping in Pond 1, the no. of flowers will be 175.(100 kept before deity and 75 remaining)

that means before dipping in Pond 2, the no. of flowers will be 87.5. (half of 175).

THAT MEANS IF THE BOY TOOK 87.5 FLOWERS TO THE TEMPLE, HE WOULD HAVE KEPT 100 FOLWERS ON EACH DEITY'S FEET.

87.5  : 100

175: 200 (MULTYPLYING 2 ON EACH SIDE)

7 : 8 (DIVIDING 25 FROM EACH SIDE)

THAT IS THE RATIO SHALL BE 7:8
