Are January 2017 edition books applicable for may 2018 ca final examination. If not then which edition should I prefer.

yes... refer institute notification ...just in certain subjects... certain topics are excluded

Applicable Material for November, 2018 Final Exams - Old Scheme - (05-01-2018)
now this is for Nov 2018(old syllabus) so relevant for may 2018 students too

I have heard from my elders and i fully agree / follow it .

"Padhne Wale Bachon Ko Kitaben ( books ) hamesha new leni chahiye 

aur Kapde hamesha puraane .'
