Books for Final Group 2

Hi Manoj,

i passed group-2 in June09 old syllabus. i also had very little time to study as im working. i studied from the following books:

Costing - Study Mat. Operations Research - From my college/classes notes. Theory chapters from Compilation. i got 49.

MICS - Do only study mat which is bible and it helped me clear group-2. i got 77 in MICS. Do study mat points very thoroughly you can easily get 60 plus.

Direct Tax - Manoharan text book. i couldnt complete entire syllabus as it is very very vast. i somehow managed to get 42. Do Income from business/profession, Capital Gains, Wealth Tax, Sp. provisions for Companies (MAT, Divi Distri Tax), Assessment procedures, I.T. authorities, Double Taxation Relief, Collection/Recovery TDS/TCS, Settl. cases, penalties/offences very very well. basic chapters like salary, house property etc are not imp for final.

Indirect Tax - Bangar text book. Again here i could do only 14 out of 20 chapter but managed to get 47.

In indirect and Direct tax lot of questions are asked on amendments. so make sure you buy new books applicable for Nov 2009 and study the amendments very well.

Can you advise me where to study group-1 old syllbus from.

Thanks for your pointwise detailed reply.

I cleared my First group (old course) in this attempt. This was not my first attempt so I had read the syllabus earlier as well.

Accounts :- Classes notes (Expert) and compilers. Do not miss out theory and AS. Rawat for practical problems for AS. I got 66

MAFA :- Classes notes (Expert) and Compilers. Do not ignore theory. Compilers are important for theory as well as problems. you will get some real tricky problems in compilers. I got 62.

Audit :- Compilers and VK Kapoor for previous questions on AS and AAS. Previous problems on AS and AAS are important. I did them from VK Kapoor last chapter where he has compiled all of them. there are around 100-150 of them . I got 45

Law : Munish Bhandari handbook and practical problems from previous years (from Munish Bhandari's main Book) . I got 48.

Hi, Manoj.... My & ur condition is same... I too cleared my first group...Failed in Second group just by 9 marks (In direct tax i got less 31) I too working & get very less time to study... For costing you may refer Paduka Book,,, For MICS- Instituition complilation is very useful... If u go through compilation, u surely will pass... However if u want other book,paduka is good..

Direct Tax, TN Manoharan is Good... But I want to use Bangar Book also for direct tax.

For Indirect Tax, Bangar book is good...

Again, even after referring paduka, i found Operation research part in costing difficult... When i searched net, i found many useful files to study Operation research (Like transportation, assignment, linear programming...) I first studied that then i solved problems from paduka... I found it easy... If u give ur mail id., I will email them to u...

Study well... & clear it in November 2009... Best of luck

I have seen V K Agarwal book. It appears very brief which i prefer because i won't have enough time to study. but is it good enough to score 50 plus? I also saw Paduka but it is very very vast. Im not sure whether that much content is required for exams as it will be difficult to revise during exam days.

My colleagues have got 53 -54 by doing VK Agarwal. I referred Padukas only for Pref Ethics. For revision I referred padukA for summary points (yellow pages) for each chapter. You can revise the entire subject very quickly.

Hi all, I gave my group I this time and cleared, and now will give Group 2 this nov and need to clear else the whole sylabus will change, and i dont want to study extra stuff...so its good that we are helping each other out for group I i studied Accounts - notes of tution teacher, i didnt take any but got it from one of my friends who pased ages back,but i solved the compiler a ooooot!it became my bible! and for AS i referred D.S.Rawat...i didnt score very wel, 52 as i had notes of 2006. i realised this fault after i wrote the exam..so study latest notes MAFA- again tution notes from friends but that was just for basics..i kept compiler as my bible for both theory and practical...i scored 78, but that was because MAF was easy this time, compiler se pura. LAW- Munish bhandari thick book as well as handbook...see..i studied directors and FEMA from the thick book but for rest of chapters i only did the handbook which was way simpler. i didnt do windingup, competition, producer company and sebi guidelines, for sebi i did only what was given in handbook and that covered me.- i scored 51 Auditing - i studied from padukas...i think its an excellent book...sometimes a bit too lengthy but it has a ready referencer i the beginning- shortcut hai woh-selective study i did from here as well...i got 51 Guys, you need to guide me for group 2!! studying self is like entering a war without any arms!!

I had appeared for 2nd Group June 2009 which i couldnt clear.I stay abroad and i cannot buy latest updated books of DT and IDT for Nov 2009 exam.Can anyone please let me know whether the same books can be referred for nov 2009 exam.If some one has a soft copy of any notes for DT & IDT applicable for nov 2009 exam, please mail it to me."ca.sharda @ gmail.com" Does this new direct tax code will have impact on nov 2009 attempt, any details about this?
