AS PER MY VIEW, CPT MUST BE PREPARED ALONGWITH FIRST YR B.COM.

Agreed. CPT must be prepared with B.Com.Ist year.

When you clear your CPT; prepare for IPCC and try to clear both the groups at one sitting.

By the time results would be declared; you might be at half way of B.Com.IInd year.

This way you would be able to enjoy your college life also which is a must for development of personality - confidence; attitude and manners. You would be able to interact with many  friends on different issues.

At that time; you would be matured to some extent for CA profession also.  Because when you will complete IPCC; your theory part would be clear relating to various subjects. Since there is no tension of passing IPCC; hence you would be able to take/enjoy training well.

The good thing is that you wish to enjoy your studies. This is one of the positive factor which will give easy success to you in CA.

It is my humble suggestion to you; when you go to the college; listen very carefully the lectures and try to correlate it with your text books.

Surprisingly; you will find that very few lines were there in the lectures which are written in the text books.

The lecture given in the colleges are generally of conceptual nature. Hence you will find the whole study pattern altogether different than your higher secondary level.

Wish you all the best.

Usually people take up CPT right after 12th exams which is suitable when they are not planning to do a regular BCom or any other graduation degree so they start up as soon as they can. However, to become a CA you got to work hardcore and not every person clears it in first attempt [no worries ok] Wise to take up regular Bcom than correspondance cause you'll end with atleast one degree by the end for a decent job if a person switches out from CA.

CPT has a lot commonness with BCom so the preparation will go together. Micro economics- the entire 12th standard. Macro has some data. Learn ASAP!

Mercantile Law- You'll find the same topics in Bcom.

Accounts- Basically the 11th and 12th stuff just 4 or 5 new chapters.

QT- Maths 10th, 11th and 12th stuff. [some of them] Stats- a little different. People usually work out on this tough area.

you can give IPCC group 1 exam in second year and start training in third year [only if are in an evening college as per ICAI conditions]

I am doing the same. Hope that works!

The best time to prepare for CPT is during XI and XII standard so that u can write CPT immediately after 12th.  If a student can write IIT entrance and can understand high fundas of physics and maths, I see no argument of getting matured for joining CA course.

At Shiksha Bhavan, we are encouraging and preparing students at XI/XII to prepare for CPT. Our experience shows, starting early will help in reducing the fail/ attrition rates drastically.
