Best Comprehensive Books - PCC

Hello,
I've got my exam in June. I gave 1 attempt in November 2008 but failed. What happened was i was not able to solve problems for sums of those chapters where i was so sure and conceptually clear. I used a reference book of my faculty and practised all sums given in his book but the format of the problem in the exam came a little different which i had never practised before. It happened with many problems .
So i wanted you all to please suggest me the best comprehensive book for each subject especially Practical subjects - Accounts, Costing & FM and Taxation.
I also have a doubt whether exam problems come in format which will surely be in Padhuka's book. So will it be very comprehensive and cover all formats of problem and exam problems will be like that given in Padhuka's? I am however satisfied with Accounts book of my coaching class. I need to know the most comprehensive book for Costing & FM and Taxation so that i dont face the same problem in this June exam (for now am planning to go for padhuka's hoping that format of problems given in padhuka's will be the format of problems asked in June exam)
     Thanks in advance.

yes it works

i followed padhuka ...... i have cleared the exam ....... for tax .... plz do the total income problems fullto  in padhuka .....

All the best !!

Thanks for replying . What i wanted to know was whether the format of the problems asked in the exam will surely be in Padhuka's book or even Padhuka's will not be sufficient and Exam problem format may come out of Padhuka's book too ???

See there is nothing like the "Format of problems"

you show know the basics and handle the isue

when u go in the industry u face a real situtaion .... and not the format ones

therefore go for the basics and the underlying cocepts....

merelying solving more and more problems ....... doesnt gurantee success...

Yes Rakesh, no doubt on that at all . But it would always be better if we practise from a book from wher mostly all exam problems will be of the same format. You wont believe i was so confident and clear about a few chapters in november exam after i practised all problems which i had from my coaching class but the format of problems in exam was quite different and i was unable to get the final answer .. just the step marks , tats the reason i wanted to confirm whether Padhuka is the book from wher the format of problems will be there exactly which will be asked in the institute just the numbers changed.

1. ICAI compiler means the past exam question papers but what do u mean by ICAI module ?

2. You know i was so confident about the NPV(7marks) sum and the WC(9 marks)but i was only able to secure step marks in those sums . Infact being frank i never used to get the final answer correct at all in any CA exam. I get marks only and only on basis of step marks. I literally mean i never ever get the final answer correct at all . So what can be done if not to practise from a good compehensive book like Padhuka (cuz its too huge a book - no time)?

hi aditya

            u need self confidence first.

i  passed both groups in last attempt   november 08. according to me only a reference book & study of institute is enough  for every subject like accounting, Cost/FM & Tax. Tax is the subject of concept so handle the practical problems conceptually & clear all basics.

              Reference books are ...........

             Accounting       Praveen Sharma Sir

Auditing  & AAS          Tapan Jindal Sir/Study

Law & ethics   Munish Bhandari Sir

              Information Tech.    Dinesh Madan Sir

               SM                          Study Only

              Cost& FM               Ashish Kalra

Income Tax           Girish Ahuja / Ajay Jain

              AS                           Rawat Sir

Best of luck & boost yourself with positive attitude
