Quick Summary
This discussion addresses whether a charitable trust is permitted under income tax provisions to hold shares in a banking company. This situation arose after the trust took an overdraft (OD) facility from a cooperative bank. The consensus is that while holding such shares is permissible, they must be accounted for as a deposit rather than an investment.

It can hold but those share are to be shown as deposit and not investment
