Nilesh,

There is a guidance note issued by ICAI on Audit of Banks. Once you are certain of the areas you would have to verify, there is a index in there, it makes life much easy.

Another good thing to do would be to discuss with your seniors and seek the checklist they have used. Most of the banks have started issuing checklists for audits.
