As part of entering account numbers in tally we are showing full bank account number in the ledger name

please advise is it correct accounting practice in view of any confidentiality issues as we share our balancesheets to several third parties on necessary basis

Quick Summary
This discussion explores the accounting practice of displaying full bank account numbers within Tally ledger names. Participants advise against this due to potential confidentiality issues when sharing balance sheets with third parties. Recommended alternatives include naming ledgers with the bank name and a reference, storing the full account number and other details like IFSC code in the designated fields within Tally, rather than the ledger name itself.

In Leger Name Show Name of the Bank, then below they will ask for A/c no., etc. there you enter bank account number, branch, ifs code, etc.
As per Your question, better to avoid full account number.

Simply create name like - Canara Bank CA No. 1234

There has a option you can type full account number below under the groups while creating a new account no. also having the options like ifsc & BSR code. so you have an option available, it helps to avoid writing with a ledger name .
