Audit trail in accounting software is required for 'all companies' registered under the companies act.
Hence it is mandatory only for companies (irrespective of its size).
It's not required for individuals and small tax payers other than companies
Audit trail is mandatory for all companies in India that are registered under the Companies Act.
But regardless if it is mandatory or not, you should do it as much as possible. There are benefits for business owners as well.
