Audit committee in government company
is a government company required to constitute an audit committee?if so, what are their duties with respect to appointment of auditor since auditors are generally appointed by CAG in govt company

Section 177 of Companies Act 2013 And Regulation 18 of SEBI (LODR) Regulation 2015 mandates every listed company to constitute an Audit Committee.
Hence in your case if govt. company is listed on a stock exchange then is required to constitute an Audit Commitee.
