Where did you file wrong details?? In TDS colums?? or where?? Did you full full tax credit as per 26AS?? When did you file, has assessment been completed?? If yes, you can rectify, if no then revise.

Assessment year wrong filled for financial year 2014-15. Other values are correct.

You have to use each years utility for that year only.

AY is automatically filled by system.

For AY2015-16 you cannot use last years utility.

Use proper year's Return utility and prefill tax credits to avoid mistakes.

Please rectify your return . See whether tax credits were wrongly taken.

How will rectify the Assessment Year in ITR?

1) Take a proper utility and file retun.

2) for eg  2015_ITR2  ->The year 2015 is the year common to both FY and AY

so  FY 2014-15  and  AY2015-16  --> so  2015 is common to both.

ITR2 is as you Know  ITr form 2

3)  IT dept only talks of assesment year.

4) For AY 2013-14  you can file a belated return upto 31 march 2016

5) You cannot revise assesment year -you have used wrong year's utility

I am unable to get your question - whether wrong utility is used or wrong years tax credits taken [26As]

Can you make it crystal clear  what is the matter.

tax credit is in correct year but When i was filled ITR 1, I was choosen wrong Assessment year. My ITR1 for financial year 2014-15 and I was filled my ITR1 is in 2014-15 Assessment year after that I was sent ITR5 to income tax office. They  were genrated CPR for defective ITR1.

My question is - Can we rectify the Assessment year Online?

1) You mean to say you filed physical return with wrong AY.

2)  you got notice for defective return.

3) If you have got Notice no then file - return u/s 139(9) - original  (not revised) .

4) I suggest you take proper ITR-1 for AY 2015-16 - fill the form - take proper tax credits - take  proper deductions and benefits, take proper income

5)  General X M L and upload and  e-verify or send ITR-v to bangalore

You are not able to explain what exactly has happened and there is confusion. There is no option to fill Ay in any form manually. have you filed physical form or done online?? Are you saying you filled your AY 2015-16 return in the form for AY 2014-15? Did yo do it online or offline?

when I was filled online ITR form that time it was asked AY. That time i was selected wrong AY.

Please tell me sheet name and S.no. Some confusion is ther my son.

click on Quick e-File ITR----  see select option for AY. I have selected wrong AY for 2014-15 financial year.

I have submitted my ITR and now I want to change my AY.

How can I change my AY?

Simple question.

Your return status for AY 2015-16 is going to be "not filed" if you don't input the correct AY. You have received defect notice, as according to tax dept., return for AY 2014-15 was sought to be revised and the form stated as "Original return".

For AY 2015-16, you better file a new return with correct particulars. Will need to know the details of the defect of your notice to help with the AY 2014-15 return.

Yes, I have received defective notice from Income Tax Dept.. What will be next step ?. How will change the AY?

I have also received outstanding amount of 6500 Rs. from Income Tax Dept.  This amount is not correct because I was submitted my ITR of 2014-15 financial year in wrong AY.

You can't CHANGE AY online as the utility for each AY is different. You need to all the particulars in the correct AY utility.

i.e. whatever income details you file in AY 2014-15, file the same after selecting AY 2015-16.

Regarding the defect notice, you need to communicate with the Assessing officer and let him know abot the apparent error and that you had no intention of revising last year's return. He will guide you accordingly.
