Articleship query - still registered or not?

I terminated the articleship midway after 11 months at a firm. initially, couple of months later I got a letter saying that termination request is rejected. Then midway,..another letter that termination has been approved.

my predicament is that, when I called Chennai, and asked for the articleship details, they told me that I am still registered in the old firm. How could this happen? Any ideas or comments are welcome....
