Articleship period

Hi All I have one query relating to articleship period of my friend. Actually my friend serves as an Accounts Assistant in July,2007 with one of the CA firm and after 6 months he served as an articled assistant under the same CA since he started chartered accountancy course just after joining CA firm as accounts assistant.He served as an articled assistant for full 3 and a half years.In April,2011 his articleship period completes and he continue serving as an Accounts assistant after that till Sept,2012.Now my question is whether his job exp and articleship period both be counted for the purpose of obtaining job or any one of the experience can be shown in his CV.
