Excess Leave = Total leave taken (other than weekly holidays) – 1/6th of the actual period served.

- Refer to Annexure I of ICAI's Training Guide.

The point is regarding the extention part of leaves that is to say already after cal 1/6th excluding leaves or 1/7th (including leaves) and max 156 days as per icai rules so in case of excess leaves even all holidays and sundays shall be taken to be served.

pls refer this link for more details :

And even while calculating the excess leaves for i have myself enquired the same and all sundays and holdidays shall be taken as leaves as per the concerned articles section at mumbai regional chapter of icai when 1/7th is taken for calculating the same.

I want to know whether the above highlighted words mean to exclude Sundays and Saturdays and Govt Holidays during leave period??

copy paste this link to check with example.

Sundays and public holidays to be excluded. If CA's office is closed on such days, even if an article assistant wants to go on work, he can't. Articles don't demand such holidays.
Mr Tushar Sampat Already we keep so much of patience during our exhaustive 3 years of articleship. So we request all the practicing CAs to count even gmcs n advance itt leaves in the calculation of leave during the articleship period. That would give you all a complete 365 days of working employee cum article :) :)
If an article takes 160 leaves in the first year of articleship then how it will affect the final attempt?
