articleship/ imp or not?

Articleship 1462 views 4 replies
hi everybody out there,
let me introduce myself.

i,m ashish, a student with excellent academic record. scored 89 in X, 89 in XII and 87 in ty final. i've secured 60+ in pe2 entirely on self study. my father had a severe cardiac arrest in mid-oct. as a result i could not manage a rank. well. given the circumstances i'm satisfied with my results.

as of now i've started my articleship in a mid-size ca firm. the respone frm the same has been disappointing. i've been made to sit for 3 mnths. i did try to get some work but a la fin i was given the job of sorting files. But ther's some hope as bunch of fellow articles would be going on their study leave and i would get some meaningful work.

but one thing is certain that i'm not getting the right exposure. after becoming a CA i have no desire to enter into practice. i would like to enter  an industry.

my query is whether the experience gained during the articleship will determine my success or failure as a CA- employee.

coz if this is not the key factor than i would not think of getting transferred. i would have time to concentrate on my ca final studies and probably  join some other course as well.

but if this is not the case than should i trnsf? How would i know that the new one will not b like the former.

pls do guide me.

with rgds,
ashish.

Friend,
See its only been three months since you joined ur articleship. Give it some time. U will be amazed to see urself improving drastically during the tenure of articleship. The work will come to you..& U will also learn how to work.

But if u want to join Industry then you can opt for Industrial Training as well. But frankly speaking, in Industry u will hardly get any time to study. So, if u follow my view then remain in the present Job, Study hard, do some audits & pass out. Everything will be fine then.

It is just a piece of advice. U may not agree to it.
whtever u decide please Make sure you donot sit Idle.
Dear Ashish,

As u said earlier, that u r having a good academic and professional record, it seems to me by ur response tht the frm ud selected is not suitable 4 u as u r 2 ambitious and in some how tht frm is not satisfying u r needs e g to get the work exposure.

There are a no. of ca frms in the market where a not only good stipend was being paid but also u got hardly enough time 4 ur selves. I m also working in the same one. However, it is of miedly level frm, but still sometimes work pressure goes to high to tolerate.

Secondly, as far as where u r presently working is concern, then dont think tht a job of file managing or ticking doesn't meant for a CA PE II qualified person. Just take a positive view towards it tht ur eye rotation speed and reading speed is improving and complete the job with ths view.

As far as the difference between u r current frm and good frm is concerned. In ur current frm u can get proper time to study or could get classes or try for a rank which will help u 2 get a better job. If u go for a good exposure and swich over to another CA firm, it may be tht u hardly got time to study. But u will get a good exposure.

However if u judge ur selves tht u have the stamina to work in a good frm along with u can get suff time to study to secure a rank. Then u must go.

Ultimately, u have to decide where u stands and where u want to go.

Regards,

Varun
thanx a lot 4 ur reply.

i ve 1 more query. should i pursue CS alonwith CA?  if not CS then any other dat u wld suggest.

& can i infer frm ur reply dat after my CA when i get a corporate jog will i be handicapped by getting limited exposure during my articleship.
