Quick Summary
This discussion addresses a tax query regarding arrears of salary received in FY 2019-20 and the subsequent claim for relief under Section 89. The user filed Form 10E and their Income Tax Return (ITR) for AY 2020-21, but received a demand notice as the relief was inadvertently disallowed. The advice given is to ensure tax is paid upon receipt of arrears and that Form 10E is correctly filed to claim relief under Section 89. It's recommended to check the intimation letter (143(1)) for mismatches and respond to the demand notice with valid reasons if disagreement exists.

Section 89 is only a relief, you should pay tax when you received arrear salary. By file ITR you can claim this already paid tax by filing Form 10 E.

Other wise department not allowed claim under section 89.

Under which section you get noticed
and check your intimation letter Where's they disallowed you sir
They have asked me to file rectification us 154

Sir you get this notice as per mismatch of your calculation and there's

So sir check your intimation letter 143(1) where's the mismatch happening

If you disagree with them then provide valid reason while answering the demand notice
