Hello,
A wife has received Salary arrears of his late husband. Employer deduct TDS on arrears of salary. My Queries are:
1) Is it taxable in wife's hands?
2) can she claim refund?
3) is there any Rebate?
The Other income of Wife is 140000 Rs for the A.Y. 2009-10.
Plz it's urgent because last date of written filing is 31st.

The salary arrears of husband as well as pension received by wife is taxable. She can set of TDS against tax payable by her on her other income, if the total income exceeds the maximum limit which is not taxable.
