u r right goutham.... but if u completed ur CA without training (articles).. it is not at all usefull.. u will face a problem while working... only bookish knowledge is not enough...

articleship is good but more stress in articles is a problem to us...

To avoid excessive workload and to balance between articleship and studies, ICAI has come out with an announcement and one of the point states the maximum working hours.

The challenging part of the CA course is articleship and exams togethar. Only those who strike the balance well do well.

Only articleship or only exams has no value. Only chapati, only vegetable, only dal or only rice has no takers. You need all for a perfect lunch along with salad and other items as well. Its impossible to do well in life with only ranks, or only knowledge, or only good communication skills. There has to be everything, something less or more at times is acceptable.

By doing dummy articleship and studying for PCC for 18 months its eay to get a rank, however by taking 2-2.5 month leave it becomes difficult. Look at big 4, so many ppl have got ranks in final and pcc as well with so less leave. If they are exceptionals and others are average, others can atleast pass.

Yaar I also Know that the both are of equal importance but what one will do when he is not getting the proper exposure from the firm, Especially after the new regulation of ICAI.

Bookish knowledge doesnt help at all

n both are equally important  (articles + Studies )

With practical knowledge you can very work well after C.A.

Or else you might be not well enough to solve the problems that arise in Practice after copletion of C.A.

well it should be understood that both are important training as well as studies and there should be announcement  by the institute regarding number of hours of training that is fixed hours which will be minimum as well as maximum in a week....so that after completion of such hours students can concentrate on studies as well n strike through a proper balance

The point is not what is taken in hand first or second. Only when the vegetable and chapati would be togethar, there would be takers for it.

Try to understand one thing, now CA is tough only because of articleship+studies togethar.

If you want to do only studies first and then gain knowledge, work experience and other skill sets, you may as well go for MBA or some other courses.

Understand the difference between a CA and other professionals. It is not knowledge or work ex...it is the ability to manage both...it is actually the ability to come out of the comfort zone.

nice explination krunal... i think sudhir is asking if any body couldnot complete the CA then what this articles is usefull in any other way..? am i right sudhir...?

Articleship from a reputed firm where you get to learn a lot of things will help even if the candidate doesnt become a CA.

For eg....Audit gives chaces of making good contacts in the industry. It helps you understand business, it helps you to learn the key financial risks a business faces and how one can address them (risk controls). This can help you take care of your business. In articleship one gets exposure to industry, one can keep eyes and ears open and find out whos doing well and why. This is something that can help a lot and make u a more successful person than the qualified guys one day. When you learn how frauds can be done can also teach you how to detect them. Similarly there r many ways taxation and legal knowledge can help a person get a good job even if he is not a CA.

Articleship is a such a good thing, for those who are interested, I can explain how CA articleship can get you a job in Investment Banking, Strategy Consulting, Financial Consulting etc. Im sure many of you maybe confused how CA articleship can get you these jobs.

I agree to u Sumit...Im well aware that article students are used very badly by certain CA firms. I have myself worked with small firm earlier.

Thats one reason I have always been against our transfer regulations. Not only after the recent announcement, but even before that I have opposed these regulations and expressed the difficulty involved in the forums earlier.
