I few weeks back I came to know that I have been appointed as a director in a private limited company about 6 months back. I have never formally informed earlier and have never received any communication from the company regarding this. I have not been invited or informed or communicated about any board meetings of the company. I do not want to be held responsible for anything that may have happened during the period that I have been on the records as a Director.
I have written to the company to remove my name as Director and also to give me in writing to absolve me of any possible implication with regard to the same. The company is not willing to give me anything in writing absolving me of any legal implications that may occur due to my name being included as a director of teh company (even hough without my consent)
What is the legal recourse available to me? Please davise what all steps I can take and how to protect myself.
