Application for TAN in Form 49B

I am an employee of a proprietorship company . The  proprietorship company has a seperate distinct name , ie the company name is different from the proprietor's name . The proprietorship company also has a GST number . I had applied for its TAN number in Form 49B . I had chosen the "f" option ie " Branch of Individual Business (Sole proprietorship company)" in Form 49B . I had mentioned the company name in te field " Name/Location of Branch" . I would like to know whether I had chosen the wrong option while applying . I have already received the TAN allottment letter which is showing only the proprietor's name and company name is not appearing anywhere. Please resolve my query . Thanks.

Whatever option you choose for proprietorship firm, the TAN would be allotted based on PAN, which in this case would be in Individual name. Well, you can use it for all the proprietorship firm/s of the individual.

Thanks for your reply . But shouldn't the company name appear somewhere in the  TAN allotment letter and also exist in the TAN master records ?

No. Because for Individual PAN the name of the individual is more important than any of his firm/s name.
