I want to know does the C.A Institute deduct marks in practical papers if the solution is not as per their Study Material but the ultimate answer is same.
Hi, I would like to point out the circular issued by ICAI in response to times of India article on this valuation issue... There it was clearly mentioned that ' When students are expected to solve the question using a particular methodology but instead they had opted for some other methodology, marks won't be awarded. You can Google the above said circular and confirm it yourself.
So, my suggestion is... after finishing your coaching notes, while you refer the practice manual... if you find any difference between institute solution and coaching notes solution, just blindly go by the institute solution... even if it contradicts logic... cos at the end of the day... marks are awarded based on the suggested answers givem by the institute... the examiners may not have indepth knowledge to assess the correctness of alternative logics and answers.
In most of the cases... institute material itself contains alternative method of solution for the same problem, that's the extent we can go to be on the safer side.
