Ahmedabad: In the CA final results declared on Sunday, five students from the city have got positions among the first 50 successful candidates in the country. While Keyur Bavishi has secured 11th rank, Uchit Seth has got 14th rank. Three others have managed 31st, 43rd and 50thranks. One student from Gandhidham has obtained 17th rank.

The much-awaited results for November/December 2009 CA exam (both CPT and final) were declared on Sunday. Of the 908 students who took the CA final examination from Ahmedabad, 93 students were declared successful, putting the pass percentage at 10.24. In the common proficiency test (CPT), of the 3,045 students 1,352 were declared successful, putting the pass percentage at 44.40.

Keyur Bavishi, who got 11th rank, attributed his success to his hard work and family support. "From the beginning, I had given importance to theory-based papers," Bavishi said. He studied for about 12 hours daily and prepared notes. A student of St Karve's School in Rajkot, Bavishi did his higher secondary from St Xavier's Loyola School and graduation from HL College of Commerce.
Bavishi secured 516 out of 800 marks. He plans to open a firm.
Uchit Seth who got 14th rank has secured 512 out of 800 marks. He said he expected good results but the results "are much higher than my expectations". Like Bavishi, Seth also plans to open his own firm.

The three other students from Ahmedabad who have got ranks are Sohil Ghanchi, Vivek Kochar and Brijesh Mistry. They have secured 31st, 43rd and 50th ranks respectively in the CA final exam.

The Gandhidham student who got 17th rank is Sonam Goyal. She says she never expected such a high rank in the examination. "My hard work, coupled with proper planning and family support, brought me success,'' she says.

According to CA Parag Rawal, regional council member, the results this time is much below than the previous year's. Rawal said that in the results declared in June last year, the pass percentage was 13.85%.

Out of 18,502 students who appeared in the examination all-India, around 1,454 students were declared successful. For the students' benefits, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) this time provided results through emails.
