Alternatives to CA-CPA and ACCA help

Hi friends,

I am interested in pursuing ACCA course (Chartered Accountancy course from England). It has much wider acceptability than ICAI course.Though the course is offered in India, I can't find a suitable administration to contact.

If anyone is doing any of the two courses (ACCA or CPA) or has any idea about it then please inform about its prospects in India, relevant persons/organisations to contact and where to undergo 3 yr articleship for ACCA.

I went to British Council,Kolkata center, however, they just take exams of ACCA and have no idea how to register or apply for it.Nor can they help regarding 3 yr training period required.

Please help !~

Hi Jagrut,
ACCA does not have any office in India. The nearest office is at Pakistan or Srilanka. Only accaglobal.com is the source to get info. The exams are conducted at British Council premises.

More over, ur view that ACCA is Chartered Accountancy body of England is wrong. there is Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales. Indian CAs are also gaining foot widely.

Alternatively, CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) has office at Mumbai. CIMA is widely accredited in the world of Finance. You may get the address from cimaglobal.com site.

I have sent an email to ACCA regarding registration process and related queries.Let's see when they give a response.I will post it here once i get it.

I am checking out CIMA details.Perhaps that can be a better option.

Also I would like someone to inform details of CPA like from which US state is it better to pursue, industry prospects etc?

And Mr. Krishnan , have you actually done or presently doing ACCA, as I wanted to know details on where to train for its articleship, study materials, etc.

Since we can start articleship in ACCA soon after registration , I thought to check out some organisations.I went to PriceWaterhouseCoopers Kolkata office.They hire ACCA trainees, subject to vacancy and submission of bio-data online. Moreover, the concerned people cannot be contacted and there is no way to meet them personally and gather substantial info.Deloitte Hyderabad is another option.But I wonder whether they will take students for training without any experience.

you can find out more about ACCA at getthroughguides.com. I think they have an office at Pune or Mumbai.

Please visit the site of HLCPE (i.e. H.L. Commerce of Collage - Ahmedabad) and one more thing to be added here is the HL collage itself is an Exam Centre for ACCA and once you cleared ACCA you will get exemption of all the papers of ICAEW

Search the webiste of ICAEW thoroughly, I bet, you'll get the required information
