AIS not able to access

Quick Summary
Users discuss problems accessing AIS from the Income Tax portal in India and abroad. Common causes include server load, browser issues, and temporary access restrictions. Many users confirmed access was later restored, while others suggested using Form 26AS or trying again later.

You have to use a password to open the AIS file.

The password is mentioned on the AIS site:-

It is PAN number in lower case followed by DDMMYYYY date of birth/date of incorporation of the PAN holder

AIS overloads are expected during the June-July ITR filing peak. The income tax portal handles millions of simultaneous logins and the AIS module often slows down or becomes temporarily unavailable.

WHAT TO DO WHILE AIS IS NOT ACCESSIBLE:

1. TRY OFF-PEAK HOURS: The portal is fastest between 6 AM to 8 AM and after 10 PM. Avoid 10 AM to 8 PM on weekdays in June and July.

2. USE FORM 26AS AS ALTERNATIVE: Form 26AS is a shorter document and usually loads faster than AIS. It covers TDS data which is the most critical part for ITR filing. Download it from TRACES (traces.gov.in) or via your bank net banking portal.

3. FILE WITH AVAILABLE DATA: If the deadline is near, you can file your ITR using Form 16, Form 16A, and your own financial records. AIS is for cross-verification, not a mandatory upload. Mismatches can always be explained in response to scrutiny.

4. KEEP A SCREENSHOT: If AIS is showing incorrect data and you cannot file a feedback (another AIS function), take screenshots. If a notice is raised due to AIS data mismatch, the screenshot timestamped during the downtime is useful evidence.

5. RAISE A GRIEVANCE: Log into incometax.gov.in, go to My Account > Grievances. Raise a ticket citing AIS inaccessibility before the filing deadline. This creates a record showing you tried.
