hie...first of all congrats to u fr the rank....i too got 6th rank in cpt dec 2009....nd 97.6% in 12th cbse..........so i can relate with ur situation of mind at the moment coz i have been thrugh this..

ok so..i am appearing in both groups nd i know its tough mentally as well as physically fr a student of abt 19-20 years of age,......it depends on the college also...if u dont have any pressure from b com then i would suggest u to go fr both the groups....

 

but if ur college studies put pressure on u then only 1st group will be advisable..........all the best...good luck

PRESSURE IS ON ONE SIDE BUT WHAT I REALLY WANNA KNOW IS THAT DOES GETTING A RANK IN IPCC OR SO REALLY MAKES  SOME DIFFERENCE..............I MEAN YA OFCOURSE U CAN COUNT IT AS AN ACHIEVEMENT FOR THE REST OF UR LIFE BUT M ASKING FROM CAREER POINT OF VIEW

DOES THE SAME APPLY TO GETTING A RANK A CA IPCC ALSO...............MANY OF MA FAMILY MEMBERS WHO ARE WELL ESTABLISHED CAs SAY THAT WHAT ACTUALLY DETERMINES UR SUCCESS AS A CA IS HOW WELL U CAN PERFORM THE WORK OF A CA IN PRACTICE ...................THIS MARKS N RANKS JUST VANISH AND HAVE NOT MUCH SIGNIFICANCE................

THATS WHAT PUTS ME IN GREATER DILEMMA

When you enter the corporate world, RANK may not all times matters, but wat really matters is subject knowledge and attitude. So do your hard work. Prepare a time-bound schedule for both groups and you need to do revision for atleast 1 or 2 times, so totally 3times study can helps you a lot in scoring the rank. Be thorough in concepts and compilations of suggested answers, RTPs etc to present the exam well. If you not able to do revision for those many times, then i suggest you to go for group by group. All the best.

To The Point Advantages Of Getting Rank In IPCC/Final:-

1--  You get recognition both in society and in corporate world. In corporate world it vanishes after some time because you have to perform according to the needs.

2-- Getting a rank is not a bad idea. Many Companies like ITC prefer rank holders with sound knowledge and offer good package.

3-- Once you get a rank, its presumed that you have a good hold on subjects. This helps in building good knowledge base.

4-- Never do dummy article ship in order to gain a rank. It creates a bad impression. That particular rank holder will be rejected once some practical questions are asked in interview because he will not be aware.

5-- Appearing for both groups create set off provision of marks among the papers.

At last i would say, don't aim for a rank, rather aim for knowledge with good conceptual base. If you have good knowledge with good understanding of subjects rank will touch your feet automatically. 

In addition to your CA with good knowledge, expand your horizon to courses like CS and MBA from a reputed institute. Industry expects expert service from you. You will be recognized throughout your career once you master the needs of an organisation and be updated. 

Suppose there is a rank holder in CA who has cleared in may'09. He is well placed with good organisation and earning well. He is not updating according to the needs.

Another man of same batch having fairly good hold on subjects is updating himself regularly. He is well versed in IFRS.Believe me he will not get good opportunities only in India because of IFRS convergence but in future in all those countries who will converge to IFRS. He will be able to establish himself all over the world.

few companies prefer rank holders with first attempt, but strictly speaking, no one in this world can give correct answer for ur question, Rank is not planned, so put best effort which u can

Passing CA Exams with Rank is nothing to do with the Corporate World , Infact I m in Corporate I know the practical there , in corporates people only thinks for doing their jobs by hook or crook and to get a better pay , infact my CFO , she is CA Rank Holder in Kolkata Earning Rs 96000.00 P.M as CTC but that has nothing to do with her rank ,on the other hand my HOD is earning Rs 55000.00 P.M he is only B.Com but he performs best in our industry n my CFO is holding the Cup of Tea .

So ., in summary getting Rank is very very very good , but from the practical point of view passing CA Exams in minimum to minimum attempts , with good working knowledge of Corporate working is much much n much better.

hy sanchit pls don't think ever of giving one group. prepare for both groups. as u asked bout importance of rank and many of our frnds said it doesn't matter.but frankly speaking buddy it matter a lot. e.g. if put extra pressure n get rank in ipcc n final . it will give you a good start in corporate world. u will hav an edge on others. where as practical exposure is concerned you can learn auditing if u do 3-4 stat,internal audits. and in current scenario no body teaches u anything ,u hav to learn ur self. if sacrifice ur studies for work thn it's nt done. maintain balance . remember rank matters much a it's not ''bachhon ka khel '' to get rank. if u get a rank thn u will hav the kind of start which is required for perfect growth .

Okay, the fact is you are in the stage of IPCC. Look, it really doesn't matter if you give one group or both the groups together at this juncture. Once you are through with good marks in the final, these things hardly matter. Say you fail in your CA final, no one is concerned whether you scored a rank in CPT or 95%+ in your 12th. The final result matters, no matter how you get there. Go as it suits you. Relax and ponder my point.

Hey Sanchit, any time giving both groups is advantageous, since aggregate matters. Passing is more important in CA, &  also having good practical knowledge

Hi Sanchit, go 4 both groups.Stop thinking and start studying.Rank doesn't matter in corporate world.What matters is the practical knowledge that u'r getting from articleship,ur  way of presenting urself and ur level of confidence.

I had heard rankholders were kicked out in d interviews because of their bad communication skills and pratical knowledge.

buddy,i dunno abt the rest of the exams...in ipcc or final,u get rank only if u hav KNOWLEDGE more than others...

recognition is temporary,knowledge is permanent n wil definately help u some day..

work to gain knowledge,not for rank..if the examiner feels tht u hav more knowledge than others,he'll bestow u with RANK...

hardwork/smartwork/wat evr..work always pays off in directly proportion to amt of work u do...

atlast,i hav a fren,who scored rank in all 3 levels.....pe1-1,pe2-4,fianl-2.suraj lakhotia.nov 09 pased out..he works to gain knowledge n in process got ranks too....

My frend ..simply getting a rank wont work wonders for you in the corporate world...but studying with that motive will give u thorough theoritical understanding of all the concepts..which will help in ur practical training..

secondly it will boost your morale to perform well always, be it under pressure, but u shud take it optimistically nd go ahead with a bang --in studies or in pratically..
