I want to know the circumstances under which additional director being appointed?

As per Section 152 of the Companies Act 2013, every Director shall be appointed in the General meeting . But Annual General meeting of the Company is conducted once in every year so for immediate appointment of Director, the Board may appoint the Director as per sectionn 161 (1) of the Companies Act 2013 and such director shall hold the office till the Conclusion of upcoming Annual General Meeting of the Company.
