TDS / TCS 1194 views 1 replies

If any person is appointed as assisstant professor on adhoc and temporary basis in a university and would have fixed consolidated pay, then whether TDS should be deducted u/s 192 salary or u/s 194J-professional fees? & moreover whther local professional tax is required to be deducted from it?.

TDS should be deducted u/s 194J. However,in case such ad hoc appointment tenure goes beyond one year, you may consider him as an employee and deduct tds u/s 192B. Only in case of treating him as an employee and paying salary professional tax come in to light.
