The Shramik card or e-Shram card is a digital card that serves as an identity and social security document for unorganized sector workers in India. It was launched by the Ministry of Labour and Employment in August 2021 as part of the Shram Suvidha Portal.
The primary objective of the e-Shram portal is to create a national database of unorganized sector workers in India and provide them with access to various government schemes and benefits such as a pension after 60 years, death insurance, financial aid in case of incapacity, etc.
What is required for registration?
Following is required to register on the portal:
- Aadhaar Number
- Mobile number linked with Aadhaar.
- Savings Bank Account number with IFSC code.
