If a person possesses aadhar and resides in Assam, will his PAN become inoperative?

Yes. You must link aadhaar with PAN else PAN may become inoperative

No, the PAN will not be inoperative as the Government has provided the exemption to the residents of the north-eastern states of Assam, Meghalaya & J&K from linking their PAN with Aadhaar.
