Aadhaar-pan linkage failed
There might be some other mistake. It should get linked, as many major differences have got linked. Try again without login, directly under Services on e-filling page. i.e.
https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/e-Filing/Services/LinkAadhaarHome.H T M L
Non of the linkage (with wider difference), which I linked, got approved without fail. I don't see any difference in the name as you have suggested. Well, try helpline.
just log into aadhar Portal incdicate aadhar No and use OTP after that tick correction for name and type the Name as in PAN and upload the PAN as scanned attachment service provider Karvy or other service provider will change the name as per PAN in aadhar after that you can link both PAN and aadhar but only thing is I have not received any mail from aadhar portal but later on I tried by logging into Income tax e filing portal and linked both my PAN and aadhar
