Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the availability of Section 80EE for home loans. It explains that Section 80EE was applicable for loans sanctioned before March 31, 2017. For loans taken after this date, a new section, 80EEA, was introduced in 2019, offering tax benefits for affordable housing up to March 31, 2022, with specific conditions like being a first-time buyer and property size limitations.

In which year you had availed home loan?

Pls post accurate information.
I availed loan in 2020

The Union Budget 2019 has introduced a new Section 80EEA to extend the tax benefits of the interest deduction up to Rs 1,50,000 for housing loans taken for affordable housing during the period 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2022. The individual taxpayer should be a first-home buyer and should not be entitled to a deduction under Section 80EE.

I wanted to ask whether 80 EE is available for those who have taken loans after 2019 also.

i heard that 80EEA can be availed only if carpet area is less than 970sq ft

as my house is greater than that, so i cant avail 80EEA.
Hence can i avail 80EE?

No. For that loan should have been sanctioned before March. 2017.
