Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies how National Pension System (NPS) subscribers can claim an additional tax deduction of up to Rs. 50,000 under Section 80CCD(1B). This benefit is available over and above the Rs. 1.5 lakh limit under Section 80C. Even if your employer deducts NPS contributions from your salary, you can still utilise this section for excess savings like FDs or insurance premiums to further reduce your taxable income.

Yes,

You can

Maximum deduction allowed Rs. 200000

80C - 150000

Additional NPS Contribution - 50000
In the internet. it says that 80CCD 1B is EXTRA voluntary contribution to NPS, But my employer is deducting from my salary as usual. So
is it right to add the excess savings (such as insurance premium, FD etc )in the 80CCD1B
Please clarify.?
