26as is not showing tds deducted for fy:2012-13 ay:2013-14

For last financial year 2012-13, TDS deducted and shown in salary slip. But, when looking at 26AS on income tax site it does not show any entry from deductor. There are entries from other bank deductors. This means only missing entry from employer.

Now it is time to file return and Form 16A is still not issued. When checked with employer, they mention that tax is credited to IT dept but it seem to be data issue on web site.

Questions are

1. Is there something wrong here?

2. What employee should do when TDS is not credited to IT dept, especially for entire year?

3. Should employee file e-return in this case after receiving Form 16A?

Last date for filing returns is 31st July - less than a month. Urge your employer to issue form 16 at the earliest. If TDS has been deducted then form 16 will give information to be used in filing you IT returns. Without form 16, you cannot file returns.

I think your Employee might not have paid amount deducted to IT depatment

Ok. How can we confirm that it is not paid to IT dept? As employee what could be the issue?

There are 3 steps taken by the employer:

1) deduct TDS from the salary

2) deposit TDS in the bank (govt treasury)

3) file TDS returns for the same

After the above steps, you should be able to view your tax credit in the form 26AS.

thre may be other chance that thy might not have filed their TDS return online which is to be done. ask your Employer that whether he has done the same

Thanks, Let me check as suggested.

Employer still saying it is issue on IT dept site. Also not issuing Form 16 till date. Since return file date is near, what employee can do here to be on safe side?

UPDATE:

Finally got details. Money was paid to IT depart but slow system takes time to update.
