143 outstanding tax amount

Hello Folks, I suddenly see a outstanding tax amount of Rs 4190 in my account on incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in with following details: AY: 2010-11, Section Code: 1431a, Date of Demand: 20/09/11, LastUpdated On: 08/02/2014 The website is unable to provide me intimation under section 143(1), as I had filed paper tax return. I do not wish to contest the amount, and wish to pay and clear up the outstandings. Query: (1) Do I have to compute any interest? If yes, how do I do so in absence of the intimation under section 143(1)? If I just go ahead and pay an amount of Rs6000, will the IT department refund the remaining amount after their computaton of interest? (2) What will be the challan details to properly credit the amount against the outstanding demand? Can I pay it online? Thanks a lot in advance... waiting for the reply from experts. Regards, Kundan Kumar

take print out of the screen showing your demand and contact your AO, u will be guided with best possible way to deal with the prb. now, answer to your first query is that pay 6000 as tax and then file an application for rectification u/s 154. any amt liable to refunded shall be refunded then. you can pay your tax online but dont forget to mention that it relates to AY10-11 and select the option "raised by it dept"

1. first you should meet to your AO and ask the calculation

2. after wards pay the exact amount and deposit the challan along with covering letter

thats it
