LEGAL METROLOGY ACT, 2009[1 OF 2010]An Act to establish and enforce standards of weights and measures, regulate trade and commerce in weights, measures and other goods which are sold or distributed by weight, measure or number and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.BE it enacted by Parliament in the Sixtieth Year of the Republic of India as follows:-CHAPTER IPRELIMINARYShort title, extent and commencement.1. (1) This Act may be called the Legal Metrology Act, 2009.(2) It extends to the whole of India.(3) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act.
