LAND ACQUISITION ACT, 1894[1 OF 1894][REPEALED BY RIGHT TO FAIR COMPENSATION AND TRANSPARENCY IN LAND ACQUISITION REHABILITATION AND RESETTLEMENT ACT, 2013]An Act to amend the law for the acquisition of land for public purposes and for Companies. Whereas it is expedient to amend the law for the acquisition of land needed for public purposes and for Companies and for determining the amount of compensation to be made on account of such acquisition; It is hereby enacted as follows:— PART I PRELIMINARYShort title, extent and commencement.1. (1) This Act may be called the Land Acquisition Act, 1894.(2) It extends to the whole of India except [the State of Jammu and Kashmir].(3) It shall come into force on the first day of March, 1894.
