Section - 7 - Adjudicating Authority
11[CHAPTER IIIAUTHORITIES11a[Adjudicating Authority.7. The competent authority authorised under sub-section (1) of section 5 of the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act, 1976 (13 of 1976) shall be the Adjudicating Authority to exercise jurisdiction, powers and authority conferred by or under this Act.]
11. Chapter III, consisting of sections 7 to 23, inserted by the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Amendment Act, 2016, w.e.f. 1-11-2016.
11a. Substituted by the Finance Act, 2021, w.e.f. 1-7-2021. Prior to its substitution, section 7 read as under:"7. Adjudicating Authority.-The Central Government shall, by notification, appoint one or more Adjudicating Authorities to exercise jurisdiction, powers and authority conferred by or under this Act."
