The GST Council recommended extending full exemption from IGST for COVID-relief goods imported on a payment basis, and for Amphotericin B due to the rise in Black Fungus cases. They also approved a reduction in GST rate for Diethylcarbamazine tablets to 5% and proposed amnesty measures for trade facilitation, including extended due dates for return filing and rationalised late fees.

Full exemption from IGST has been recommended for COVID-relief related goods covered by ad-hoc exemption, even if imported on payment basis for donation to government or relief agencies. These goods were already exempt from Basic Customs Duty.

India's IT strength in post-pandemic supply chain response and AEO advancements were highlighted at a WCO virtual conference. Collaborative risk assessment by Customs Administrations worldwide was emphasised. The validity of AEOs expiring between 01.04.2021 and 31.05.2021 was extended to 30.06.2021.

The qualifying service for promotion to Appraiser has been reduced from 3 years to 2 years, and the promotion quota has been increased from 50% to 95%. These amendments aim to fill vacant Appraiser posts by promotion.

Yes, Ludhiana Customs is appreciated for seizing 102 MT of undeclared Peas, valued at approximately Rs. 2.04 crore, which were found in a consignment declared as 'Bamboo Beans'. Peas are a restricted item for import.

Financial and administrative approval has been given for the construction of DRI's Chennai Zonal Unit Office, with a project cost of about Rs. 52 crore. Additionally, financial assistance of roughly Rs. 6.5 lakh has been approved for setting up Gymnasium facilities at the CGST Daman Commissionerate.
