This notification amends the previous customs notification (No. 18/2019-Customs) to increase the effective rate of the Road and Infrastructure Cess (RIC). This cess is collected as an additional customs duty on petrol and diesel. The changes will come into effect from 14th March 2020.

FAQ :
This notification seeks to amend notification No. 18/2019-Customs dated 6th July, 2019, to increase the effective rate of the Road and Infrastructure Cess (RIC) collected as an additional customs duty on petrol and diesel.
The notification specifies that for Sl. No. 1 and Sl. No. 2 in the table, the entry in column (4) will be substituted with 'Rs. 10 per litre'.
This notification shall come into force with effect from the 14th March, 2020.
The change affects petrol and diesel, as the Road and Infrastructure Cess (RIC) is collected as an additional duty of customs on these products.
