I have a query.
My friend's employer has quoted wrong PAN of my friend on his Form 16.
He has filed his last year return by using that form 16 and also by quoting the wrong PAN. In fact the person who has helped him in filing his return has also not cross checked the PAN.
They used the form 16 provided by the employer only.
What he can do now?
Last year return was filed within due date
Kindly help
how can we solve this matter and is there is any kind of penalty?

In my opinion the return is filed in someone other's PAN
and the Records as per Income Tax Deptt. would show non submission of return in your friend's PAN
Please confirm the same with Income Tax Deptt.
and for the coming years I would suggest your friend to provide the correct PAN to his employer for correct Form 16

thanx for the reply....i agree with you.....but i want to understand is there any way this mistake can be rectified.
Further have checked with my friend he had provided right PAN, the employer has quoted wrong PAN.
I have asked my friend to inform the employer about it.
