This is to inform you all that today i.e. June 15, 2013, is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
The purpose of the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is to encourage communities to recognize the problem of elderly abuse, and for countries to create policies that foster respect for elders and provide them the tools to continue to be productive citizens.
In addition to the WEAAD, the UN also observes an International Day of Older Persons on October 1 every year to recognize the contributions of older persons and to examine issues that affect their lives.

I think it is high time for us to address the problems related to elder abuse. We should respect our elders, parents and grandparents for their love, blessings, efforts and sacrifices, which they have made to, make our lives happy and successful.
