Whether tds of past years can be claimed in this year return?

Tax queries 676 views 8 replies

TDS has been deducted from a person's income in the A.Y. 2015-16 and A.Y. 2017-18, but the person has started filing his return from A.Y. 2017-18, though he didn't claim the TDS in that return.

So, now at the time of filing return for A.Y. 2018-19 whether he can claim the TDS of both the above mentioned years??

@ Aparmay.,

* If You will claim refund then You can file condonation delay request to Your Jurisdictionall CIT.
* The Request is accepted then You can file ITR for previous missed years.
* No more special formats for request letter.
* Letter will be issued Directly to the Dept.
* Better to prepare financial Statements with refund...

You can find out the letter format in the following link. The format given by Shri CA B Chackrapani Warrier Sir...

Thank you for the guidance.

But one thing I need to know, in the return form at the TDS sheet there is an option to state the year of the tax deducted. If the person just put those tds figures by mentioning respective year of deduction and claim the refund, whether any problem would arise later?
