Hi friends,

am new to CACLUBINDIA and completed 2.4 years of articleship. Basically am coming from rural background and came to chennai to get good work experience but i got selected in small firm only. My principal sent me to stock audit of Retail Network Dealers in Chennai for first 5 months, after that am doing the internal audit of the same company. I felt fed up from first month itself and thought to take termination but our Institute's Rule didnt allow me to take the same. i wrote my first final exam in last Nov., but didnt clear. My principal is behaving good to me except leave matter (even for 1 day leave). Now i want to go for 2nd attempt, they didnt allow me even 1 month for preperation. I dont have any urgent work pending in my office. I am working saturdays and festivel holidays also.

So friends,  i jst want to knw whether i am eligible for any more leave or not. Based on ma calculation, i hav to work 64 days more to complete ma articleship. (Plz Consider my working hours). Please check my calculation below and reply....

Since the number of days leave taken is 180 days which is the actual days allowed by Insti, dont think u will be allowed much.. it more of informal agreement between u and ur boss.. tel him tat u will come after exam and work for remainin days..

I don't think you can use the hourly calculation. The excess worked in any week, if any, can be set-off, if your principal allows.

The calculation is a bit different as explained in the training guide, you earn leave by the following calculation:

A. Total No. of days served (total period) = 2.4yr. x 365 days = 876 days

B . Leave taken (gmcs is not counted as leave, it is considered part of working days) = let B

C. Total no. of working days = A x B

D. Leave earned = 1/6 or 1/7 of C (max. 180 or 155 in aggregate in total period)

1/6 (3.5 yr) (max. 180) or 1/7 (3 yr) (max. 155) or 1/6 (max. 180) for both (the current regulation link at icai.org states 1/6), pretty confusing so confirm at e-sahayata.

Just noticed a little mistake above.

C = A - B

instead of C = A x B

Listen yar,

           Only days will be calculated in your training, not hours. if u calculate hour then ur training shall be complted only in 1 and half year.
