While training, You should get experience of debt- equity syndication, M&A deals, PE placements, project set-up and many more aspects of finance (like MF management, portfolio management, capital market expertise).
As investment banking is not only abt M&A. Its your training period. So, you should not restrict your experience to only one segment of finance. Good luck
